Celebrity hairstylist Johnnie Sapong sculpted a chic, punk-rock bun for Dakota Johnson’s 2017 LACMA Art+Film Gala appearance in Los Angeles. Here, the step by step to achieving this look, in Sapong’s words.

“I used Leonor Grey Algues et Fleurs and layered it with Leonor Greyl Structure Naturelle. Taking sections of her hair from the nape to the front and I worked this into the hair and then blew it dry with a diffuser to encourage texture and body in the hair.

Once hair was dry, I worked through with Leonor Greyl Baume Bois de Rose on the mid-lengths and ends for separation. I misted the roots with some Leonor Greyl Voluforme and brushed back with my fingers to get some root lift before sweeping hair back in a messy pleat. I secured it with a couple of pins. To finish the hair, I sprayed Leonor Greyl Laque Souple.”
