Fictitious Fragrance Fan: Prada Candy Gloss

Newly launched, Prada Candy Gloss is young, fruity and fun thanks to its notes of cherry, peach and musk.

I knew this FFF was someone young, fun and a little innocent, but not TOO. First I thought of Daisy Duke, but had to veto her because this is too sophisticated a scent for her. I need to feel absolutely certain with the choice for FFFs. It’s vital. My mind drifted to cherry enthusiast Betty Boop, but it’s not quite sexy enough for her. I thought about cherries and characters from movies who seemed to embody a springlike vibe, rocked pink and were perhaps teens or in their early twenties. And then, my whole inner monologue was interrupted by a clip of Grease. Specifically when Marty introduces herself as “Marty Maraschino. You know, like the cherry.” And I was like, Oh, it is ON. This is such a Marty scent.  Basically, I had chills. And they were multiplying.

Rizzo may have been the bad girl, and Sandy was too much of a goody goody, even for me. My favorite Pink Lady was always Marty Maraschino. She’s sassy, she successfully chats up celebrity Vince Fontaine at the very pivotal dance contest and who DOESN’T remember when Marty Maraschino unfurls her photo holder of male pen pals in the military? She rocks pink perfectly (another requirement of this FFF) AND she’s even a good friend. She comes up with fantastic beauty solutions on a moment’s notice when Frenchie is trying to numb Sandy’s ear pre-piercing. “Why don’t you let the cold water run and stick her ear under the faucet,” she says, while painting her nails. Marty even pantomimes to Sandy exactly how to put out her cigarette with her stiletto in that moment of cinematic history at the end of the flick. I envision that Marty picked up the scent at a boutique she frequents for pink clothing when skipping class at Rydell High with Rizzo.

Prada Candy Gloss retails at sephora.com for $76. Are you going to try this one out? Already hopelessly devoted to it? Tell me about it. Stud.

Welcome to  R18 series, Fictitious Fragrance Fans. Fragrance is one of the most difficult areas of beauty to discuss and I find myself trying to convey a scent to you, more often than not, by the pop culture character it embodies to me. So why not make it a thing?
