I took a little baby break during Fashion Week Fall 2010 to head to midtown delight Salon AKS for a relaxing blow-out and manicure.

Hair stylist Sadah blew out my winter-ravaged mane quickly and infused it with runway worthy volume and bounce. The salon boasts a fab array of products including Moroccanoil and Phyto. Blow-outs at Salon AKS range in price from $60-$90.

Then I headed to one of the salon’s private manicure rooms (great for catching up with a pal–I filled my friend Marina in on my latest dating ridiculosity whilst she enjoyed a pedi and I got a mani). Galina, my nail tech was extremely precise and balked when I told her I only had five minutes to dry because I had to run to a show. Well, Galina said no way, Jose–wait ten minutes and there’s no two ways about it. I wound up skipping the show in exchange for a flawless, glossy mani and I have no regrets. The manicure lasted a straight week with zero chips. I selected Deborah Lippmann‘s Call Me Irresponsible, a purple that is hot without being neon. The salon’s signature manicure will run you $35, but they also offer a “lap manicure” during any hair service for $28. Perf for the gal on the go.
