Celebrity makeup artist Vincent Oquendo worked with the stunning Hailee Steinfeld for last ngiht’s MTV VMAs. He noted, “This look is bold and sexy. It’s the grown up Hailee – strong and feminine.” Here, the how-to for Hailee Steinfeld’s makeup effect.

Skin
To prep Hailee’s skin, Vincent first swiped Laura Mercier Candleglow Concealer and Highlighter in 0.5 ($32) under her eyes to add a subtle luminosity. He then used Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage in SC-2 and SC-3 ($35) to even her skin tone and cover any existing redness.
To highlight Hailee’s already flawless skin, Vincent applied Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Ultra-Longwear Foundation in a mix of shades Cashew and Linen ($48). Vincent noted that this gave her skin “a creamy, smooth matte finish.”

For a bronzed glow all over her complexion, Vincent dusted Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder in Bronze 01 and Bronze 04 ($42). This made her skin offset the cool, slate color of her Versace mini dress.
To give her cheeks a peach-colored tint, Vincent lightly dusted Laura Mercier Second Skin Cheek Colour in Lush Nectarine ($26) on her cheekbones to add depth and dimension.

Eyes
For Hailee’s smoldering eye look, Vincent used Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour Matte in Caramel ($29) on her lids. He then used Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour in Tuxedo ($29) to create her strong, sexy winged cat eye, giving her a “modern Cher vibe.”

To add depth and brightness to her eyes, Vincent lightly applied Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage in SC-1 and SC-2 ($35)into her crease.

To finish her eye look, Vincent dusted Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder in Bronze 01 ($42) over her lids and brow bone to make her entire face look naturally bronzed and warm.

He then applied House of Lashes false lashed in Siren ($9) followed by several coats of Laura Mercier Extra Lash Sculpting Mascara in Black Onyx ($26).

For Hailee’s signature, bold brows, Vincent began by using Laura Mercier Sketch & Intensify Brow Pomade and Powder Brow Duo in Ash ($28) to outline and fill in the entire brow. He then swiped Laura Mercier Brow Dimension Fiber Infused Colour Gel in Brunette ($24) over her brows to ensure the color remained in place throughout the evening.

Lips
Vincent created her muted, nude lip using Laura Mercier Lip Pencil in Natural Lips ($25) and Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Lip Colour in Milky Way ($28).
