Makeup artist Jo Strettell did the makeup honors for the stunning Thandie Newton for her Screen Actors Guild Award appearance last night. Says Jo, “Thandie’s look is a modern twist on an old Hollywood style. The makeup was a combination of soft shades, brown and copper smoky eyes with blush lips.”

TECHNIQUE:

Jo started with a clean, fresh face, moisturized with Lancôme Énergie De Vie Day Cream followed by Giorgio Armani Light Master Primer. She applied Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra 24H Longwear Foundation all over the face using a brush then buffed the foundation into the skin with another clean brush.

Jo then defined the cheek bones with a sweep of Giorgio Armani Sun Fabric Bronzer and a bit of Giorgio Armani Cheek Fabric in #507 as a light contour. Then she applied Giorgio Armani Sheer Fluid Sheer #14 to her hands first and then dabbed onto the high cheek bones, across the top of the lip and across the neck and shoulders.

TECHNIQUE:

Using a combination of the copper and brown shadows in the Lancôme Color Design 5 Pan Eyeshadow Palette in Kissed by Gold, Jo applied shadow along the upper and lower lash lines, across the top lid, blending it across the lid into a smoky eye. She then applied the Lancôme Drama Liqui-Pencil in Brun across the top and bottom lash lines, in the water line on top and bottom to give a thicker, smokier look. Then Jo applied Lancôme Monsieur Big Mascara (launching July 2017), many layers of mascara to the top and bottom lashes. Try Lancôme Grandiose Extreme Mascara for similar results.

Jo lightly filled in brows with Lancôme Les Sourcils Definis in Dark Brown and brushed up the brows with Lancôme Sourcils Styler.

TECHNIQUE:

Jo prepped the lips with Giorgio Armani Prima Eye & Lip Contour Perfector around the lip line and the Giorgio Armani Him/Her Lip Care in #1 to moisturize. She slightly overdrew the lips with Giorgio Armani Smooth Silk Lip Pencil #9 to make the lips appear a bit bigger. Then she applied Giorgio Armani Lip Magnet #507 to the middle of the lips. Using her fingers, she pushed out the color to the rest of the lips. This left a very concentrated color in the middle of the lips.
