Despite being the Granddaddy of prestige mascaras, Lancome keeps their lash roster pretty tight. They have twists on their three basics: Definicils (defined, full lashes), Hypnose (lengthening+volumizing) and Grandiose (curling, full fanned effect.) This incarnation of the Grandiose genre touts extreme volume, length and curl.
Its genie-in-a-bottle tube gives us a short rubberized brush on their unique “swan neck” wand. While the brush’s small stiff brush allowed me to get to every little lash, I found that the shape of the wand was a little unwieldy. I was able to get my right eye good but when I moved to my left, my hand was in a funky position and I twisted the brush a few times to get in there good. First coat gave me soft fluffy lashes and the product was easy to brush through. However, the second coat didn’t give me the Grandiose look I expected. It took a little work (basically a third coat) for any build-up to happen and then my lashes we just clumpy and needed a brush through. My lashes felt a little stiff so I didn’t bother with an afternoon touch-up that I knew would be flaky.
Despite my lashes being pretty average I needed an oil-based remover to get all the excess makeup off. If you’re a Lancome junkie, get this one, otherwise pass.
