Vincent Oquendo did the makeup honors for the stunning Bella Hadid at last night’s Grammy awards. His inspiration? “A modern, bronzed Italian sexbomb in La Dolce Vita!” Here, the beauty breakdown in his words.
“I believe glowy skin starts with the right skincare prep. To start Bella’s golden Grammys look, I prepped her skin with the Sephora Collection Honey Face Mask and followed with the Sephora Collection Green Tea Eye Mask. I followed these masks with the Sephora Collection Liquid Moisturizing Skin Concentrate and then the Sephora Collection Instant Moisturizer for light moisture before we applied her makeup. I then applied the Sephora Collection 8 HR Mattifying Compact Foundation and buffed into the skin with the Sephora Collection PRO Foundation #47 Brush for a flawless, matte finish. Next, I used the Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Palette to really highlight Bella’s skin and warm up her complexion. I mixed Subconscious, a deep brown shade, and Shadowplay, a soft brown shade, in the palette and applied under Bella’s cheekbones, jawline, and around her eyes to define her face shape. I then used Levitation, a soft peach shade, to brighten her cheekbones and add even more highlight. To add a bronzy flush of color, I applied the Sephora Collection MicroSmooth Baked Blush Duo in 01 Tangerine Tease, a shimmering warm orange/tanned tangerine shade, on the apples of her cheeks and a little on her eyelids to warm up the look.
For the eyes, I used the Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye Contour Palette to create a warm taupe-brown eye color. I specifically used Liberatus, a pinkish ivory shade, and swept it across her eyelids and under the eye with the Sephora Collection Classic Crease Shadow Brush #73 for a gorgeous bronzed eye. Next, I wet the eyeshadow brush and applied Sephora Collection Colorful Eyeshadow in Hawaiian Beach, a light bronze-glitter shade, on the inner part of the eyelids for a dose of sparkle. I added the Kat Von D Metal Crush Eyeshadow in Thunderstruck, a metallic pearl shade, on the inner corners of the eyes and browbone for extra shine. To add more definition to the eyes, I lined the top of Bella’s eyes with the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper, an ink black liquid liner, from the inner corner of the eyes to the outer corner and kicked it out slightly. I then quickly smudged the liner to soften the look. Next, I curled Bella’s lashes and used a generous coating of Sephora Collection The Mascara – Volume, Length & Definition to the top lashes and then applied a set of Sephora Collection Luxe False Lashes in Plume for added volume.
On the lips, I dabbed the Kat Von D Metal Crush Eyeshadow in Thunderstruck on Bella’s cupid’s bow with a wet brush to define her lips. I then lined her lips with the Sephora Collection Rouge Gel Lip Liner in 01 The Nudest and filled in the whole lip with the color. Finally, we applied the Sephora Collection Oil Infusion Color & Care in 09 Iced Coffee, a similar shade to the liner, for the perfect nude-rose lip to complete her look.”
