January Jones’ Disco-era Glamorous Makeup Look

january-jones-emmys-2015-photoMakeup artist Rachel Goodwin opted for disco-era glamour for January Jones’ Emmys appearance last night. “I was inspired by women like Jessica Lange and Kathleen Turner in the ’70s, with the beautifully, fully done looks…where their lips, cheeks and eyes were unabashedly glamorous and at the same time luminous. It was all about glowing skin, reflection and sophistication,” says Rachel. Here, the beauty breakdown, in her words.

SKINCARE
I used the new La Solution 10 de Chanel Sensitive Skin Cream to start. I love that it feels very lightweight and gives a nice radiance, without being heavy. It’s great for underneath makeup.

FACE
For January’s complexion, I used CHANEL Vitalumière Aqua Fresh and Hydrating Cream Compact Sunscreen Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15 in 20 Beige foundation to create a little golden warmth, not pale-pale like we’ve done in the past. I sculpted her cheekbones with CHANEL Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Colour SPF 15 in N°30 to create dimension, and topped with CHANEL Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Colour Stick in N°22 for a hint of color.

EYES
I applied CHANEL Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in Convoitise all over the lid and up toward the browbone, then added CHANEL Soft Touch Eyeshadow in Safari in the eye crease. For more drama and a touch of glamour, I applied CHANEL Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in Mirifique, a shimmering black tone, toward the outer corners of the eyes in a ‘V’ shape. Across the bottom lashline, I swept on more of CHANEL Soft Touch Eyeshadow in Safari and CHANEL Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in Convoitise for an ethereal effect.

LIPS
I applied CHANEL Aqua Crayon Lip Colour Stick in Raspberry Red all over, then buffed it off with a Q-Tip. To finish, I lightly swiped on CHANEL Glossimer in Rose Paradis so it had a sheer effect, more of a vintage-red look.
