Makeup maestro Nick Barose did lovely Lupita Nyongo’s makeup last night for Sally Morrison & LoveGold Celebrate Academy Award Nominee Lupita Nyong’o at the Chateau Marmont. He went bold with primary, Crayola 8-pack shades, opting for blue eyeliner and bright red lips.

“The key is to just go for it and instead of just simple black or brown liquid liner which could look too traditional with classic red lips I wanted to make the look quirky, fun and very pop art with the Yves Klein Blue liner (Lancôme Artliner 24H Bold Color Precision Eyeliner in Sapphire) to contrast with the bold red mouth (YSL Rouge Pur Couture in #1 Le Rouge).”

To keep red lips looking luscious but without bleeding or feathering, Nick likes prepping it with a non-greasy lip balm (he used Kiehl’s Facial Fuel No Shine Lip Balm). Nick advises keeping the rest of the face less colorful and dressing up the cheeks with subtle blush that flatters your skin without looking too bright, in Lupita’s case Nick opted for a sheer plum (Lancôme Blush Subtil in Aplum).
