Sarah Hyland’s soft and elegant braided Golden Globes updo was one of my favorite ‘dos of the night. It was reated by Celebrity Hair Stylist Ryan Richman using Kenra Professional. Richman gave Hyland a textured braided crown to show off the high neckline and back detail of her gorgeous Georges Hobeika dress. “I was inspired by the hair on Valentino’s runway shows and wanted to create a romantic, effortless look that complimented her dress beautifully,” said Richman.
Richman began the hair look by creating a center part on Hyland’s damp hair. He then generously applied Kenra Platinum Blow-Dry Spray ($22, kenra.com) to her hair to protect against heat, eliminate frizz and reduce blow-dry time up to 50%. Next, Richman blow-dried the hair using a large boar bristle round brush and made sure to leave some natural texture. Richman then sectioned the back of Hyland’s hair into two equal, vertical sections. He applied Kenra Platinum Working Spray 14 ($22, kenra.com) to each section to enhance natural texture. He then braided each section and secured the ends with elastic. Richman secured both braids on the top of Hyland’s head using bobby pins. He left out pieces of hair for a soft, romantic feel. He finished the updo with Kenra Volume Spray 25 ($17, kenra.com).
NAILS
On Sarah Hyland’s nails are essie shades: bbf best boyfriend ($8.50/www.essie.com) and blushing bride ($8.50/www.essie.com) “For this award show, we went for a very fresh, nude nail – something very different from Sarah’s usual red-carpet nail look,” said Celebrity Manicurist, Christina Aviles. “To accomplish this, two coats of essie’s bbf best boyfriend were applied, with one coat of essie’s blushing bride on the top to give her nail a slightly peachy-pink hue to complement her dress.”
