Makeup: Katy Perry At The 2013 AMAs

2013 American Music Awards - ArrivalsJake Bailey created a classic makeup look for the stunning Katy Perry at last night’s AMAs. Said Jake, “The moment I saw Katy’s beautiful Oscar de la Renta gown I knew we would do a red lip. Pairing it with black liner and lots of lashes we created a look that is “classic Katy”. Here, the beauty breakdown.

“I started with a sheer application of COVERGIRL Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation in Buff Beige #825. This foundation is perfect for the red carpet because it provides full coverage but can be blended sheerly for light yet durable coverage. It lasts forever and the 20 SPF is great for a daytime red carpet event because they have to stand in the sun for so long!

For the eyes I started by creating a classic Hollywood eye line using COVERGIRL Liquiline Blast Eyeliner in Black Fire #410. I love this pencil because you can create the look of a liquid liner but it’s much easier to apply. I accentuated the crease of her lid using Flamed Out Shadow Pot in Melted Caramel #330 and finished with the NEW Bombshell Volume Mascara in Very Black #800 – it creates extreme volume!
I then set the foundation with a light dusting ofCOVERGIRL + Olay Pressed Powder in Light #330 and warmed the apples of her cheeks with Clean Glow Blushin Roses #100

I finished the look with a classic bold red lip. I usedCOVERGIRL LipPerfection in Hot #305 with matching liner. I used the liner to perfect her lip shape before applying color.

Performance Look:

For Katy’s performance we created a look inspired by her recent trip to Japan. This was a dramatic look and we only had a short amount of time to make the change so I had to work fast!
I started by dusting her all over with a theatrical powder from Ben Nye called “Super White” to pale out her complexion as quickly as possible. On her lips I refreshed her COVERGIRL LipPerfection in Hot #305 and used the liner to make her lips more bow shaped.

I applied COVERGIRL Checkers Blush in Classic Pink #110 all over the sides of her face concentrating the most pigment on her temples. I finished her look with triangular lashes I created by cutting into a particularly large false lash with small cuticle scissors to create the angular shape. This created her dramatic stage look!”

What do you think of Katy Perry’s makeup and performance last night? I’m LOVING the Asian performance creation. Sound off in the comments.
