This week, Official Mascara Correspondent Ashleigh Ciucci takes on Yves Rocher Beauty Mascara, $6 at yvesrocherusa.com. Here, her review.
I’m always excited to discover a brand I’ve never tried before; Yves Rocher is a 55 year old company developed by a French businessman focusing on natural and organic beauty. The packaging is clean and feminine with an eggplant-colored tube with a white floral motif. The brush is small and classic; short bristles often provide a soft application.
This is definitely the case here: with one coat, I got nice coverage but my lashes were VERY soft and wispy. The second coat distributed evenly but with very little punch; soft and wispy but nothing over the top.
My afternoon touch-up was good, but there was nothing I could do to build any volume, only wisp. The formula is very gentle and washed off easily with soap and water. This isn’t the mascara to go glam with; it would be great as a day mascara or a starter mascara for a pre-teen. —Ashleigh Ciucci
