Fictionary: Un-Rose Nyland Scents

Fictionary is a column showcasing beauty-related words that don’t exist, but should.

The new Prada Infusion de Rose Fragrance not only will instantly up your vanity ante with its delightful packaging, it also smells breathtakingly beautiful in that sophisticated way a rose scent does. This is a rose scent that will not be relegated solely to the octogenarian set–it’s a decidedly Un-Rose Nyland Scent. The Golden GirlsRose boasted a youthful vibe, but a distinctly “active senior” lifestyle on the show. But there’s certainly no mah-jong by the pool in Boca or plastic rain hats for the wears of this light floral fragrance. The rose is tempered by crisp citrus, cutting the intensity of two different roses indigenous to Turkey and Bulgaria, respectively for a distinctly younger feel. For more info on the notes, read on…

Perfumer Daniela Andrier mixed up a combo of pretty. The description:  “fresh rose petals mingle with tea, roses and honey, crushed in the hand with mint leaves” is infinitely wearable, fresh and gossamer on skin. The scent includes the notes of Turkish and Bulgarian rose, Italian mandarin, peppery mint, Brazilian maté, and honeycomb from Laos. It is like fresh rose petals mingling with Tea Roses and Honey, crushed in a hand with mint leaves. The bottle is decorated with James Jean “Trembled Blossom” design–and good luck having the heart to throw out the gorge box in which it comes.

Lastly, I leave you with one of my favorite Rose Nyland-related lines from The Golden Girls.

Rose: Can I ask a dumb question?
Dorothy: Better than anyone I know.

The Prada Infusion de Rose Eau de Parfum is available at Neiman Marcus or neimanmarcus.com for $105 for 3.4 fl. oz.
