The What’s On Your Vanity Series showcases a single beauty item a blogger loves because it’s effective, but also she feels she must keep out on top of her vanity because the gorgeous packaging must be displayed.  

If you’re not reading the expertly edited Beauty Blitz headed up by InStyle veteran Polly Blitzer (her clever word usage makes me wish MY name were Blitzer), I don’t know what you’re DOING all the time. Her enthusiasm is contagious and she’s the real deal when it comes to beauty coverage. She’s got the scoop on celeb beauty faves, a glamazing glossary and a beauty stalker section where she covers a day in the life of industry insiders, celebs and more including moi. Natch, Polly couldn’t limit her on-vanity confections to one beauty jewel, so this is part 1 of 2. In Polly’s words:

I keep a silver julep cup on my vanity to keep dozens of my favorite beauty tool within easy reach. I use Q-Tips for everything from smudging shadow to removing eye schmutz. The cup looks much more chic than the package they come in, but it also keeps the Q-Tips neat so they don’t get fuzzy. Occasionally when I’m expecting company, I’ll replace the Q-tips with fresh flowers. But then I have to make a pilgrimage back to the box in the linen closet until the bouquet wilts!
