Fictionary: Red Light Special Skin Care

Fictionary is a column showcasing beauty-related words that don’t exist, but should.

Dolls, it is a truth universally acknowledged that Gossip Girl‘s Kelly Rutherford (who plays Lily van der Woodsen on the hit show) has creamy, poreless skin that belies her age of 42.  So I wasn’t surprised when I was invited to a Zeno breakfast launch for the brand’s new wrinkle zapper called Zeno Line Rewind ($40) and that Kelly Rutherford spoke on the device’s behalf.  I attended to try out the brand’s new anti-aging device system boasting heat, vibration and red light technology.  Upon testing it out nightly for the past couple weeks, I hereby hail it the Red Light Special, to quote the select musical stylings of TLC.  For the full review, read on…

Use it and say to your wrinkles… wrinkles? Take a good look at it [your face], look at it now. It might be the last time you have a go-round. The two-part system is non-invasive and derm recommended. The safe, hand-held vibrating device delivers soothing heat and red LED (Light Emitted Diode) technology. You just apply the serum all over the face, and then skim over it with the Zeno to optimize results. In the (paraphrased) words of TLC, “Don’t go too fast, don’t go too slow. You’ve got to let your [Zeno] flow.”

The serum is enriched with a peptide complex and super-antioxidant Resveratrol, which provides protection against free radicals that can cause premature skin aging. Throughout the day, the cocktail of ingredients enhances cellular turnover and supports collagen structure, resulting in youthful-looking skin. Hyaluronic acid provides ample hydration to counteract dryness and flakes. I love the way it feels under makeup and my latest moisturizer of choice, the Bliss Triple Oxygen + C Energizing Cream ($54).

The device has unlimited life and the serum refills (1oz) can be purchased separately for $20. The Zeno Line Rewind comes with two AA batteries and  the Wrinkle Reduction Serum and is available at drugstores and myzeno.com. You’ll need a refill because you’ll feel compelled to squeeze out a bit of the serum in remembrance of TLC’s Lisa “Left Eye” Lopez, who’s no longer with us. You know. The beauty equivalent of “pouring some out for your homies.”

Have you tried out the Red Light Special? Using it “all through the night?” Tell me how you’ve fared in the comments.
