I’m going to Boston this weekend for a quick getaway and I’m bringing Richard Kirshenbaum’s new book, “Rouge,” with me to keep me company on the Acela tomorrow.
It’s a fiction novel about the beauty industry in the 1950s, and its rights have been acquired by Sony, so stay tuned for more on that. Oscar-winning producer Wendy Finerman, known for blockbusters Forrest Gump and The Devil Wears Prada, has optioned the book and an major deal is in the works.
The story follows two rivals as they navigate the cutthroat beauty business world — think The Powder & The Glory. Set against backdrops like NYC, Hollywood, Palm Beach, London, and Paris, it’s a delightful jaunt through one of my favorite time periods — and about my favorite subject, of course.
