“Grace And Frankie” has officially become one of my top 3 favorite current shows (“Schitts Creek” and “Younger” are my other 2). With lines like, “To be fair, you’re new to food,” the script sings and the acting is top notch. I love unmedicated (i.e., sober) Grace in Season 4. It got me thinking about what perfume she’d don and after consulting with Alex, we figured it out. And it’s so obvious: Chanel No. 5.
After all, Grace is a retired cosmetics company mogul; she’d obviously wear the fragrance created by the woman who said that “[fragrance] is the unseen, unforgettable, ultimate accessory of fashion that heralds your arrival and prolongs your departure.” I’d posit her mother was a wearer of the juice as well and passed her love of it down to Grace, who never stopped wearing it. Women like Grace keep up with the beauty and fashion trends of the era (this woman does NOT dress like she’s 80 years old and looks incredible), but tend to stick to their go-to perfume for eons and this one is a classic for a reason.
This post is part of R18 series Fictitious Fragrance Fans. Fragrance is one of the most difficult areas of beauty to discuss and I find myself trying to convey a scent to you, more often than not, by the pop culture character it embodies to me. So why not make it a thing?
