Best SAG Awards 2014 Beauty Look: Claire Danes

Beauties, I was at the Sundance Film Festival this weekend so I couldn’t SAG it up the way I’d like to with you guys, but I did catch the red carpet and Jared Leto’s excellent speech (as Aly noted, it was so good, it’s hard to believe Brian Krakow didn’t write it for him). And let’s be real with each other – that’s what’s important. I especially adored Claire Danes’ personal beauty best at the SAGs, thanks to her darker hair (praise JESUS, I loathe that Homeland single-process she rocks that totally washes her out) and gorgeous makeup. Also? It’s ACTUALLY a total coincidence that my favorite part of the SAGs was Angela Chase and Jordan Catalano. Let’s get down to beauty biz and break down Claire Danes’ hair and makeup, ‘k?

MAKEUP

Makeup artist Matin Maulawizada did the honors, drawing inspiration from Danes’ Vionnet gown which he stated “contained a Roxy music feel.” To complement the beautiful gown, he created a modern and sexy look with a glimmer reminiscent of the 1980s.

FACE:

First, Maulawizada prepped Danes’ skin with Laura Mercier Mega Moisturizer Crème SPF 15 in Normal/Combination Skin ($50),  Laura Mercier Repair Eye Serum ($80) and Laura Mercier Repair Eye Cream ($75). Then he massaged Danes’ face using Laura Mercier Foundation Primer ($32) to relax the skin and create an even canvas (the massage is her favorite part of the process!).

Next he applied Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Foundation in Sunny Beige ($50) all over her skin, slightly contouring her face. After that, he blended Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Foundation in Warm Ivory ($50) into Danes’ skin, highlighting its natural radiance.

Maulawizada applied Laura Mercier Crème Cheek Colour in Rosebud ($24) and a touch of Laura Mercier Crème Cheek Colour in Sunrise ($24) to the apples of her cheeks. He used a touch of Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder in Highlight – 01 ($36) onto her cheek bones.

Last, he lightly dusted Laura Mercier Invisible Loose Setting Powder in Universal ($35) to set her makeup, ensuring she looked flawless throughout the evening.

EYES:

Maulawizada applied Laura Mercier Crème Eye Liner in Cobalt ($22) to Claire’s lash line.

Creating a bold eye look, he applied Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour in Smoke ($26) followed by Laura Mercier Baked Eye Colour in Mystical ($23) and Laura Mercier Satin Matte Eye Colour in Dark Spirit ($23) all over her eyelids.

To accentuate her eyes, he dusted a thin layer of loose, blue glitter to Claire’s eyelids. For a similar product, Maulawizada recommended using Laura Mercier Sequin Eye Colour in Lapis ($23).

Maulawizada applied Laura Mercier Long Lash Mascara in Bleu ($24) to accentuate her lashes.

LIPS:

Adding the final touch of glamour, Maulawizada applied Laura Mercier Lip Plumper in Pink Pearl ($30) to Claire’s lips.

HAIR

Celebrity hairstylist Peter Butler gave Claire relaxed body and texture for the red carpet of the 2014 Screen Actors Guild Awards. “We went with a straighter look for Claire, Easy Hollywood,” said Butler.

“First, I blew out her hair using the John Frieda Luxurious Volume Volume Building Mousse to give her hair a little grip.

Next, I used a large barrel curling iron and added a few random waves for texture. I sprayed each section with the John Frieda All-Day Hold Hairspray and then brushed it all out to create some gorgeous red carpet movement.

To keep the look sleek and frizz-free, I finished by smoothed the John Frieda Frizz Ease Secret Weapon Touch-Up Créme through her hair by rubbing it in my hands and gently combing it through with my fingers.

Who was your favorite actress at the SAG Awards 2014? Did you love Jared Leto’s speech (and his hommebre)?
