It only takes a few makeup items to change up your look in several different ways. By keeping versatile cosmetics on hand, you’ll always have a fresh look that requires minimal effort and time. These tips and products are also great for traveling, as you’re going to want to limit your cosmetics bag to a few simple items. Here’s how to create myriad makeup looks with the same four products.
What You’ll Need
Skinny eyeliner brush
Shadow brush
Makeup sponge
The Makeup Essentials
These four versatile pieces can create completely different looks if used in creative ways.
1. A Crisp, Mint-colored Eyeshadow
I like CoverGirl Queen 1-Kit Eye Shadow in Peacock. It can be used as liner, shadow and applied to the inner corners of the eyes.
2. Black Mascara
This will be brushed onto top and bottom lashes, used as liner or applied to the top lashes only. I use CoverGirl’s Flamed Up Mega Curl Mascara in Very Black Blaze.
Tip: Use a skinny eyeliner brush with your mascara to line your lashes. Dip the brush into the tube and wipe it off on the back of your hand before applying.
3. A Buildable Foundation
My favorite is CoverGirl Clean Whipped Cream Foundation. Be sure to find a shade that matches your skin exactly. This product can be mixed with moisturizer, used as foundation or dotted on as concealer.
Tip: Make sure to invest in a winter version, as your skin is probably slightly lighter during the colder months.
4. Lipstick in a Dusty Rose Shade
Try Cover Girl Lip Perfection Lip Color in Sultry Nude Lipstick. This can be applied to lips, eyes or cheeks.
The Looks
Be sure to follow the order here, as each look is designed in a certain way. And most importantly, have fun!
Look 1: Subtle Glow
This look is all about a subtle glow, ethereal eyes and defined lashes. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how you achieve it.
- Eyeshadow: Using an eyeliner brush, line mint eyeshadow along your top and bottom lash line.
- Mascara: For this look, apply black mascara to your top lashes only.
- Foundation: Mix your buildable foundation with moisturizer and apply using a makeup sponge.
- Lipstick (for cheeks and lips): Use dusty rose lipstick on your cheeks and lips by applying with your fingers.
