Liquid foundation is my favorite way to achieve a smooth, flawless look. But getting it to look more natural than cakey requires a couple tweaks to my former application method (i.e., just smoothing the stuff on with my fingertips). Here, the easy steps to achieving perfect skin.
1. Start with a moisturizer or BB cream and apply all over the face with fingers. I like to apply dots on my forehead, cheeks and chin and then rub them in.
2. Use your favorite foundation brush or makeup sponge and smooth on a small amount (just what you need) of foundation onto your face. Smooth the areas around your nose and the inner corners of the eyes with either a smaller brush or a makeup sponge.
3. Wait a couple minutes for the foundation to set. Then, take a Puffs tissue and gently blot off the excess makeup on your forehead, nose, chin and cheeks for the most natural effect. Makeup artists do this all the time and it’s the best way to eradicate cakiness while leaving on exactly the right amount of makeup to camouflage imperfections.
4. Sweep on a bit of powder with a big, fluffy brush and you’re on your way.

I normally blot my foundation right after applying. Didn’t know that it was a method used by MUA.
