In this installment, Official Mascara Correspondent Ashleigh Ciucci test-drives Dolce & Gabbana Secret Eyes Mascara. How does she fare? Read on and find out.
I’m a sucker for fancy packaging; I’ve reviewed a Dolce & Gabbana mascara before and preferred it as an accessory instead of a mascara. Because of this, I’m a bit tougher on glamorously packaged products. I recently tested D&G’s Secret Eyes mascara in Coffee. I recently bleached my hair and have been digging a softer lash look.
The rubber brush on this mascara is long and skinny which made it a little difficult to get the formula to grip to the lashes; you can’t quite get the right angle to really work it in there. However, with a little effort, my lashes looked soft, fluffy, tapered, flirty and curled with one coat.
The second coat built up nicely but the effect was still very soft. My lashes were individually defined with good lift. I did a naughty thing and worked out with mascara on and I was impressed that the formula didn’t budge. Afterwards, my touch-up gave me a slightly more dramatic evening look. It also washed off easily with face wash at the end of the night.
While this mascara didn’t knock my socks off, I like the effect it rendered. I’d buy this one if you want a soft look and a little glam in your makeup bag.–Ashleigh Ciucci
