My favorite gown of the Mad Men-ish collection |
The vibe at Carmen Marc Valvo is always so welcoming and downright lovely that I make it my business to be there season after season at Fashion Week. I even squat at NASDAQ each year and stay for the presentation, which in his generous, technologically savvy spirit, Carmen M (as I always refer to him in my head) even broadcasts the show on the Times Square monitors outside for all to see. It’s fashion democracy and I like it. Also, it doesn’t hurt that the CMV beauty dream team of Ted Gibson and MAC Cosmetics’ Romero Jennings are chamomile tea personified.
From a hair perspective, Ted Gibson created a whimsical, texturized chignon, leaving a bit of the ends unsecured for a decidedly 2011 feel. First, he used his Build It Blow Drying agent to pump up the volume, created his hair sculpture, then finished with his Beautiful Hold Hairspray.
Romero Jennings for MAC said it’s all about bold eyes and less about bold lips this season. Shimmer abounded in his palette of teals and blues. Romero began with the new MAC Mega Metal Shadow in Dalliance, using this all over, including in the inner corners. Then he used MAC’s Cream Shadow Quad in Lite Brite, Derailed, Plum-ing andWashed Out. Nude lips (MAC Lip Colour in Super) completed the look.
Nails were decorated with a nude polish custom-blended for the show.
Pretty beyoo, n’est-ce pas?
