Gals, I was recently in an educational video for Redken‘s site with colorist David Stanko called “The Art of the Consultation.” Check it out here.
In celebration of the video’s launch, I’ve partnered with the brand to offer you the chance to win one of 10 Redken product pairings: Their Velvet Gelatine 07 and Wool Shake 08. How to enter? Simply leave a comment about one fact you learned about consulting with your colorist from the video in the comments. The deadline is Friday, September 3 at 5pm ET. U.S. residents only, please.
Good luck!

Many thanks for sharing this, very useful!
Nice GHD, and you can get what you paid. GHD hair straightener is really good!
speak up always…
I learned- and not the hard way, this time- to SPEAK UP and let your stylist know that color requiring touch-ups every five minutes/no shampoo ever/blue tinted lighting at all times ain’t gonna fly.

I learned it’s important to let your stylist know about previous chemical treatments and your lifestyle. You want a hairstyle that you can manage.

wow…i love this redken.
I never knew that Redken uses Skin Tone cards. They really help determine what colors work best for the client.
I’ve never really had a full on salon experience besides a haircut so this was all a learning experience.
It’s cool to see that hairstylists are really interested in catering to clients & learning about you & your hair routine so they can find a color that fits you best.

I learned to always show an example of the color you are looking for. Describing it is not enough.

I learned that I should tell my stylist how much up-keep I want to do with my color so that he/she can help me decide which formula (i.e. permanent, highlights, etc.) is best for me.

I learned how truly customizable the coloring sessions can be. It was far beyond just what color to choose. Interesting!

Such an interesting video! I learned how important it is to speak up and be honest with your stylist. They want to help you to make you look your best!
I learned that you must communicate with your consultant and to set up an appointment with a new colorist. Allowing them to really understand who you are and what you want in your hair. 🙂
I learned that I should talk about my daily hair routine with my stylist. For instance, my routine involves doing as little as possible at crack-of-dawn o’clock in the morning.
I learned that lifestyle plays a really huge roll in what color you should dye your hair.
I learned to get shine to my hair, I need to use glass 01 smoothing serum and thickening lotion 06 body builder. Thanks for the wonderful giveaway! Paula Caudill paulasue39@yahoo.com
